Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Easy ·
45 Minutes

  • 5 large potatoes
  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 125 ml heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp. italian herbs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Peel and dice potatoes. Rinse in cold water, then boil, stirring occasionally, until they fall apart when poked with a fork.
A few minutes before the potatoes are done, heat the butter and cream in a sauce pan. Peel and crush the garlic, then add it along with the herbs and let it simmer for a few minutes.
Drain the potatoes and return to pot. Add the butter/cream/garlic mixture and the dry spices, then mash.

  • Add some freshly shredded cheddar cheese while mashing
  • Use thin-skinned potatoes and leave the skins on
  • Add some flavorful red spices like chipotle or smoked paprika
